Electromagnetic Fields and Cancer. 

Dr. Maret will address the relationship between electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and cancer with special reference to modern telecommunications technologies and the changed microwave environment in the world.  The current F.C.C.-mandated exposure standards for EMFs are based solely on thermal effects and do not consider the health implications of non-thermal EMFs which have increased significantly in the last two decades.  With the increasing proliferation of wireless technologies in our homes, work environments and places of recreation, it is vital to consider their impact on our long-term health including their contribution to cancer.  New theories about the possible contribution of mitochondrial dysfunction to the development of cancer will also be presented.  Dr. Maret will describe practical steps everyone can take to protect themselves from the adverse effect of these fields.

Dr. Karl Maret is President of the Dove Health Alliance, a nonprofit foundation based in Aptos, California, focused on the creation and promotion of global research and education networks in Energy Medicine. He practices complementary medical modalities including nutrition, functional medicine and energy medicine at the Dove Center for Integral Medicine in Aptos, CA. Trained in both electrical and biomedical engineering before his medical studies in Canada, he also completed a 4 year post-doctoral research fellowship at the University of California San Diego, including participation in the successful American Medical Research Expedition to Mt. Everest in 1981.  He is President-elect of the International Society for the Study of Subtle Energy and Energy Medicine. He has presented at many international conferences in Europe and the United States including keynote addresses on the impact of electromagnetic radiation on our health.
