She is a mother, grandmother and an enthusiastic kayaker, mountain biker and cross country skier.

Thanks to her love of flowers and the sea, we have rugs like the Sandpiper Runner and the Sailor's Valentine. Look for the MSB initials in any of Sandy's wonderful works of art.

Ferrilyn Sourdiffe: Designer

Ferrilyn was the first employee of McAdoo Rugs when it moved from Maine to Vermont in 1983.

She began her careeer while a student at Bennington College where she majored in Visual Arts and Music.

In addition to her music courses, she studied printmaking, painting, drawing, ceramics and literature.  After graduating with a BA, she continued designing for McAdoo.  Ferrilyn is the creator of the Shoes Rug, Sleeping Dog, Dots and Leaves, and many other top sellers.  She has been known to create the image of a Bernese Mountain Dog in about 8 stitches of yarn!

Ferrilyn has also worked as a free-lance illustrator for various clients, raised a family, and performs with several area music groups, Dafe Budajo and Adesso, singing everything from jazz to folk to rock and roll.  She lives just across the New York border with her husband and children.

Liz Williams: Dyemaster and Instructor

Liz has been dyeing the wool at McAdoo for nearly 14 years now.  She has an extensive knowledge of her craft and accepts nothing less than perfection when creating our copyrighted 288 colors.  While new colors are added and old ones occasionally modified, Liz prides herself with her ability to match any dye-lot she is given.

She graduated from the Putney School and later recieved her BA from Bennington College.  She is also mother of two college aged boys, Ben and Eli who enjoy occasional rides on her motorcycle.

Liz also heads up our training program, giving guidance and expertise to new rug hookers until they are ready to tackle a McAdoo Rug.

Maureen Wilt: Finisher

Maureen's capable hands have now been putting the finishing touches on thousands McAdoo's for more than 20 years now.  She hand plucks each rug's loops so that the details of the design pop out and give each rug a distinct look with remarkable skill and speed.

Also known as the "miracle worker,"  Maureen can tackle any repair no matter how difficult, and return your rug looking like new.  Being an master of the rug hooking craft herself, she is responsible for maintaining the quality control of every rug that comes in from our staff of rug hookers in and around the greater Bennington Vermont area.  If a rug comes in that is not up to our standards, she instructs the rug hooker on how to properly re-create their work so it meets the McAdoo standard of excellence.
