The design of the official flag of New Brunswick is taken from the Arms. The flag was adopted on February 24, 1965. The Royal Warrant of the Arms stated that they could "be borne on Seals, Sheilds, Banners or flags according to the law of arms", therefore needing no further authorization. The flag is rectangular in shape of the proportions four by length and two and one half by width, with the chief occupying the upper one-third part and the remainder of the Arms occupying the lower two-thirds part.
