Sprout Bamboo

When I heard about bamboo being used as a textile, I set out to find as much information as possible. Wow, I found a lot! While reading through pages and pages I took note of the benefits I felt were the most important. If you wish to learn more, all the resources are listed at the bottom of this page.

With love,
Sprout

  • Bamboo has naturally occurring antibacterial properties, which help keep your sprouts' world germ free.
  • When bamboo is made into fabric it becomes so soft that it's been compared to cashmere and silk; making it super snugly for the sprouts wearing it.
  • Bamboo fabric absorbs almost twice the moisture compared to cotton, keeping your sprouts dry and warm.
  • When it's spun into fabric, bamboo has a sheen, adding a natural glow, making your sprouts shine!
  • Bamboo naturally protects against UV rays that can be very harmful to new sprouts.
  • Bamboo is grown without fertilizer, pesticides, insecticides or genetically modified organisms (GMO's).
  • Conventionally grown cotton is grown in petroleum-based fertilizer and contains
all of the above. Other chemicals used to grow conventional cotton have also been linked to contamination in our drinking water.
  • Trees absorb harmful greenhouse gasses, which are causing global warming. Bamboo takes in close to five times the amount of greenhouse gasses and produced about 35% more oxygen than the same amount of trees.
  • Bamboo is the fastest growing plant on the planet. It can grow at a rate of three feet per day! Bamboo requires no irrigation, so it is easy to grow and produce in abundance.
  • Unlike the majority of petroleum based fabrics bamboo is completely biodegradable.
