The Story Card reads: "In Flanders Fields broken poppies fell like bloody tears, as angels wept for heroes whose love was greater than their fears." Valor is more than simple strength and courage in a crisis, it is the capacity to become greater than yourself, in the crucial moment, to value something or someone more than your own mortality. There is no greater gift or higher service than to charge knowingly into the shadow and give your life to save another. This poppy honors the brave who proved their spirit was greater than their final challenge, and expresses our deepest gratitude for their sacrifice.
