The Sprig Pin. It is said that in 1759, George Washington ordered a gold and garnet aigrette(hair ornament)from London, England for his beloved wife Martha. The original design is displayed at Mount Vernon. Our replica of the sprig is cast in sterling silver and set with pearls. Measures 1 1/2" x 2 3/8". A Story Card is included. The Story Card reads: "It is said that in 1759, George Washington ordered a gold and garnet aigrette (hair ornament) from London, England for his beloved wife Martha. History does not tell us the size of the aigrette but a sprig remains of the original design and is displayed at Mount Vernon. Our replica of the sprig is crafted in sterling silver with 18k gold overlay and set with pearls."
