We've found that when more than one 100' extension cables is added to the standard Hawk Eye, the infrared lights begin to fade, and night vision lost. So, we had the Extreme wired to handle 12 volts of currents (vs. 9 in the regular Hawk Eye). This extra amount of current keeps the infrared lights burning bright -- and night vision functioning -- to 400+ feet.

The Extreme is just like the original Hawk Eye Nature Cam in every other way, providing real-time color video,  infrared night vision, built in microphone, and a weather shield allowing use inside and out. Be aware that, just like the regular Hawk Eye, color saturation depends on the amount of natural light reaching the camera. In most birdhouses, the light level is low, so colors are muted at best.
