Giant Timber Bamboo shares an odd trait with other bamboos: occasionally, many bamboos of the same species in a large geographic area bloom at once. This is called gregarious blooming. Flowering intervals seem random: most bamboo rarely flower, and one species has a flowering interval of 130 years.
