ORIGIN: China | Introduced in 1911 by Edward Goucher of
the US Department of Agriculture in Glen Dale, Maryland [Abelia x grandiflora x Abelia
schumannii]. The genus Abelia is named after Dr. Clark Abel (1780-1826), a renowned British
physician and naturalist.
NOTES: Deer resistant. Prune and fertilize in early Spring. Provide
sheltered locations in northern climes. Enjoy bronzy new growth and showy reddish-purple
fall color.
