I sell replacement lamps for the Ultracure (Ultra????) and three other spot curing units made by the same company that use the HBO/45 lamp.
(Because of "Interlectual property" we cannot name the spot curing units or the company)
I place new 100W Mercury burners (diferent burners from the original manufacturer) in your old HBO/45 reflectors.
Ultracure (Ultra????) lamps are plane HBO/45 lamps
One other unit (Nova????) has a temperature sensor on it which must be pluged in for the spot curing unit start the lamp ( I have sensors).
The other two units (Acti????) and Omni(????) have security / timer electronic boards on them. Again the lamps will not start without this board being plugged in. I re-set the timer to zero hours.
With a replaced burner the lamp:-
Is cheaper than a new HBO / 45 Osram lamps.
Has as good as the original UV output of new Osram lamps.
Has consderably longer useful life than new Osram lamps. ( See notes below explaining why this is.)
Not only will the HBO/45 with new Mercury burners be cheaper than the new lamps they will have much longer useful life. The reason for this is that the replaced burners have thicker electrodes which means that the arc gap of the lamp does not increase as quickly as the original 100W Mercury burner.
Mercury lamp power supplies work on constant power (Watts).
In electrical terms this is: Amps x Volts = Watts.
Keeping the arc gap short helps in two ways.
- The burners are in elliptical reflectors which focus the light into small diameter light guides. Elliptical reflectors have large magnification ratios of the arc and so as the arc length increases the light is not focused as tightly resulting in less light entering the light guides. The TOTAL amount of light from the burner only slightly decreases as the lamp ages due to deposits in the burner.
- The Volts that a Hg burner pulls is determined by the arc gap. As the arc gap increases so the Volts pulled by the lamp also increases. The power supplies have a maximum Voltage that they will deliver to the Hg burner and so when this is reach the Hg burners will go out.
