Welcome to Jean's Material Things

     Another month into our new year and so many projects we simply have to do!  Quilting and Knitting and Embroidery are so addictive aren't they? Not to mention the threads that you quilt and embroider with.  On that subject I can be enthralled for hours with all the colors and textures available with threads.  I think they call that being a thread-a-holic...I prefer thread junkie myself.  The newest threads to arrive in the store are the Wonderful Networks "Mirage Threads". The Mirage Threads are another rayon collection that is produced in a 30wt and has random spaced coloring.  There are 40 variegated colors in all and they are beautifully smooth and easy to work with.  You truly have to see and use them to believe in the versatility of these wonderful threads.
   On the knitting front we constantly have new yarns arriving in every texture.  Our Wednesday night knitters are keeping everybody busy with new ideas for our stash of yarns and how to use them and of course are always willing to share their method of casting on, or casting off, or turning a heel or using a set of DPNs.  The newest yarns to arrive are beautiful Malabraigo chunkies and some great Vero and Yoshie yarns. 
    Our quilters are busier than ever.  The newest materials to arrive are some of the loveliest yet and the patterns that are available just keep improving.  Of course, as always, we are all looking forward to the Canadian Quilters Association Quilt Conference being held in Calgary Alberta from April 25 to May 1, 2010.  There will be a National Juried Show, special exhibits, lectures, workshops, merchants' mall and not to be forgotten the Trend Tex Challenge.  You can check it all out at https://www.canadianquilter.com   .
