Meet Tony DiPadova. A knife enthusiast Early In Life.
Born In Stoneham Massachusetts, Son of Joseph DiPadova, was introduced to knife collecting at a very young age.
My Father had a great passion for knives and as a result, I got a great education on the subject.
I remember driving with Him in his car to meet one of his friends to sell a knife or to make a trade.
As His part time business grew, and working out of His garage, We started to go to local shows and markets to sell knives.
We spent a lot of time together buying and selling knives, and for Me, I was still learning what this whole business was about.
In 1988 My Father developed a heart condition which took His life in 1989.
Thats when I lost My best Friend and business partner.
I thought I could go on and continue with Our work but things just wern't the same.
I tried going to the shows but I was lacking one thing, the enthusiasim to keep going on by Myself.
I really felt like I dissapointed My Father by not carrying on what He started out to do and loved so much.
In 1991 We were moving into another house and We had put some things in storage that had been there for awhile prior to the move.
When We went to see what We had in storage I came across some knives from My Father's collection.
As I was looking through the box I found a pocket knife that My Father gave Me when I was ten years old.
I remembered Him saying, I think it's time You have a pocket knife of your own and maybe start your own collection.
My Wife Georgette said to Me, You could probably sell these knives and get a good price for them.
It was at that moment when Dova Distributors was born.
I decided to do what My Father started out to do years ago.
Already running a full time business it was difficult to find time to devote to another one.
It's taken some time to get Dova Distributors up and running, but We are a growing business and I enjoy from my heart what I do.
The desire and passion I had for knives as a young boy still exist today, even more.
