About Flipside Hats

How it began…

Like most designers begin, mom taught me how to sew.  It was at the dining room table with my best friend, Susie; we were 10 years old.  I loved it, how pleasing it was to craft fabric into something I walked away wearing.  That day it was a pink plaid elastic scoop neck shirt with elastic cuffs, but it was only the beginning.  I continued to work with fabrics, sewing gave me a new look on the possibilities of fashion using recycled clothes and material.  I liked making everything, but I developed a special affinity for building hats.  It was my hobby.  During my third year of medical school I made the ¿o-g¿ P-town cap as a birthday present for Jen, a class friend.  She received compliments and I received requests for purchasable P-town caps. ¿ Flipside Hats had begun.

What we´re about…

Flipside Hats are made from a combination of salvaged and new materials.  Each hat is hand-built with close attention to detail, design and quality.  Every hat is fully reversible, as two hats in one.  Our small team of haberdashers takes time with each hat, knowing it will become someone¿s favorite.
