HERMENEUTICS: STRICT CONSERVATIVE BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVES. 2005 by Lawrence Bednar. Several decades ago, an unparalleled new influx of questionable practices and doctrines began enticing strict conservative churches, turning many to the erors of modernism. This kind of enticement continues unabated today, steadily making inroads into truly conservative evangelical and fundamentalist circles. Thus the sad prospect of new widespread defections from historic biblical faith and practice steadily threatens the churches. More than ever, it has become necessary for truly biblical churches and schools to know and uphold with certainty what the Bible teaches concerning Christian living, doctrines and practices and to separate from those who no longer desire biblical orthodoxy. It seems necessary to be ready always to separate from compromised professors of the faith to preserve biblical Christianity. This separation is doubtless one aspect of the truth spoken by our Lord in scripture in Matthew 7:13,14 which says, "wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it." But action is needed to check the spread of the leaven of modernism that now threatens the whole church loaf and aims to make it very difficult to preserve biblical doctrine and practice anywhere. If we love the faith and our brethren, we must do all we can to promote biblical truth. A crucial need is replacement of corrupted modernistic college textbooks that can influence the impressonable young minds of new candidates for the ministry. Our people have been so busy with daily ministries of churches and schools that this area has been neglected, forcing our schools to rely on texts with corrupting influences. It's high time to end this neglect, and it's time to define the faith for ourselves and stop allowing others to do it for us. The present book is one of a series aimed at providing a basis for schools, and churches to appreciate and emphasize fully the pure fundamental biblical doctrines and practices that must be preserved if true faith is to continue. And the series emphasizes the issues over which separation from former professors of the faith is necessary for perseverance of biblical Christianity. Christ said (Luke 18:8), "when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?" Additional Information
