SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY: BIBLICAL PERSPECTIVES, Bibliology, Theology, Soteriology, Ecclesiology, Anthropology, Angelology, Eschatology. By Lawrence Bednar. For much too long, authors from truly conservative Christian backgrounds have not taken the lead in publishing truly biblical views on doctrine and practice. Many unsound religionists with private agendas have filled the gap with ideas that distort or compromise biblical faith. There's a particularly-acute need for seminary, Bible-college and Bible-institute textbooks that meet strict conservative standards for training of young men for the pastorate and other ministries. Dr. Larry Bednar seeks to address the need in a series of texts on systematic theology, apologetics and hermeneutics that present strictly biblical views on Christian faith. The author's perspective is that of a separatist/dispensational traditional viewpoint, recognizing the King James Bible as our one true guide and the autonomous local church as the center of our practice of the faith. The author is troubled by a lackluster spirit and lack of devotion to the faith seen in many churches today. It is hoped that this systematic-theology text will stir the spirits of many as it seeks to show all that scripture bids us know of the blessed faith. The book's biblical theism topic seeks to help readers appreciate anew just who it is that died for us on the Cross and just what it is He did for us there. The bibliology topic presents a bible-believer's view of the textual history of the Bible to strengthen faith. The anthropology topic offers help in understanding the sin nature that we may cooperate with God's way of dealing with it. The soteriology topic seeks to clarify biblical salvation, comparing aspects of Arminianism and Calvinism to ensure understanding of, and confidence in, God's plan as described in scripture. The ecclesiology topic aims to increase our appreciation of the church, the magnificent plan God has ordained to bring His Word of truth to all. The eschatology topic aims to ensure understanding of God's promises about the afterlife, the great millennial kingdom and the final estate with God in eternity. Larry Bednar is a retired research engineer who approaches bible study like an engineer, examining the smallest details, while keeping an eye on the overall picture. He's a graduate of Independent Baptist seminaries, a retired Baptist pastor, a fundamentalist educator, a seminar speaker and a textual consultant for Graceway Bible Society, formerly the Trinitarian Bible Society (Canada). His seminar topics include subjects like recognizing biblical inerrancy, comparing Bible versions to illustrate the complete accuracy of the KJV and comparing true creation science with the unscientific nonsense of evolution.
