The 103rd was organized in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, of men from the counties of Allegheny, Armstrong, Butler, Clarion, Indiana, Mercer, Venango and Westmoreland. This regiment served in several battles of the Civil War, and many of the men were captured and died in Andersonville Prison.
