Includes more than forty different newspaper titles and 2,000 individual editions, searchable by title, date or scroll.
NEWS OF THE DAY, BUTLER COUNTY NEWSPAPERS 1805-1901, on CD Rom. 2000 compiled by Butler Co. Historical Society & Butler Area Public Library. This important set of 16 CDs includes more than forty different newspaper titles (listed below) and 2,000 individual editions, spanning the period 1805 to 1901. Each set includes simple directions, designed for even the novice PC computer user. Once accessed, the papers are at least readable, and in many cases more readable, as they are in their original form. Researchers should be aware that sections of some papers were too damaged to scan, and that complete runs of all titles were not possible. The CDs are arranged chronologically and the titles are then alphabetical on each CD. The user can search using either the newspaper title, or date, or choose to scroll through all the editions on each CD. News of the Day permits users access to newspapers that would be too fragile to handle. And it permits them access in their own homes, whenever they like. Titles include: American Citizen, Boys Echo, Butler American, Butler Centinel, Butler Citizen, Butler County Citizen, Butler County Observer, Butler County Record, Butler Democrat, Butler Eagle, Butler Earthquake, Butler Intelligencer, Butler Palladium and Republican Star, Butler Repository, Butler Sentinel, Butler Union, Columbian, Conoquenessing Valley News, Democratic Herald, East Brady Independent, En Passant, Karns City Telephone, Keystone, Lutheran and Missionary, Millerstown Herald, Millerstown Review, Missionary, Northwest Independent, Oilmans Journal, Orphans Messenger, Parker City Daily, Repository, Repository Splice, Semi-Monthly, Tree of Liberty, Union Herald, West Penn Official, Young Lutheran, Zelienople News and Zieglers Democratic Herald.
