BRUSH CREEK REFORMED CHURCH: HEMPFIELD TOWNSHIP, WESTMORELAND COUNTY, 1820-1858. Translated and compiled by Paul Miller Ruff. (Part I - 1820-1858) These records are those entered in the large Register used by both the Lutheran and Reformed Congregations at Brush Creek. Although the book was purchased in 1806, the Lutheran records date from 1792 through 1858. Earlier Reformed Brush Creek records are to be found in the Baptism Register of Pastor John William Weber, the Reformed pastor. Beginning in 1820 the Reformed records are entered in the back part of his book. These also continue through 1858. The Reformed pastor Nicholas P. Hacke, whose ministry at Brush Creek began in October 1819 and continued beyond 1858, is responsible for all of the pastoral acts recorded in this book. The Reformed congregation is now the Brush Creek United Church of Christ. This volume contains baptisms, parent and sponsor indices, confirmations, communions and a child index. 70 pages, 8½ x 11 softbound.
