COAL OIL JOHNNY - HIS BOOK. 1902 (2006 Reprint) by John Washington Steele. Reprint financed by Oil Region Alliance. John Washington Steele (1843-1921), more commonly known as "Coal Oil Johnny", was Petrolia's prodigal prince. He inherited at age 21 the oil royalties and properties of his adopted parents (Culbertson and Sarah McClintock), including his boyhood home and their very productive oil farm along Oil Creek between what is now Rynd Farm and Rouseville, PA. He eventually spent all of his money and lost the property through bankruptcy. (The house is currently owned by the Oil Region Alliance.) This book is his autobiography. 211 pages, 7½ x 5 Hardbound with dust jacket.
