It contains chapters on the Indian nations, early settlements and early organization of the county and lengthy sketches of the City of New Castle. A complete chapter is devoted to businesses and manufacturers. Other chapters include the military, banks, the press, medical profession, education and township sketches. Although this volume contains a sizable amount of history, it is still generally devoted to biographies of early citizens.
