I didn't know what I had created when I made the first batch of Murphy C's Popcorn. I was in my early twenties and I simply mixed some popcorn and spices together. I choose to let the corn pop in olive oil.
It was pretty simple back then, I craved the flavor of popcorn day & night and this was the way I satisfied that craving. But I wanted something I could make at home that was healthy.
Soon after the first batch was popped, I decided to use the popcorn as an advertising prop for my short films once they were accepted into film festivals. I had a vision of handing out bags of my special popcorn with my film advertised on the front of the package.
Unlucky for me, none of my films ever made it into the festivals. But I continued to pop. I discovered gourmet kernels and tested all of them flavor by flavor. I liked so many of them that I decided to make the perfect combination of kernels for each Murphy C's flavor.
Murphy C's Popcorn stands for two things: Murphy (my last name) & C(short for my husband's last name, Cross). But it has a secret meaning too. It also stands for the fact that I "see" popcorn flavors in everything I eat. I'm constantly inspired to try new fresh herb and spices.
Our mission became: produce a snack food that is healthy, unique, delicious and original. And we've done just that. We've made a popcorn product that has never been sold before. But not over night. This process has taken many years to develop.
When my husband and I met, I knew he was the man for me when he said 'I believe popcorn could be a meal in itself." A little motto we like to chant at Murphy C's from time to time. So enjoy our product, we love making it for you!
