The Troubles in Zolokere The Troubles in Zolokere is a first person glimpse of the HIV/AIDS crisis in a tiny village in Malawi, Africa. The story is told through the eyes of filmmaker Cy Kuckenbaker who in May 2004 traveled to visit his friend, development worker Jake Wilson in the village of Zolokere. With only a few hours of tape, Cy had planned to shoot a travelogue for himself and Jake during his month long stay. As he followed Jake from project to project a powerful story emerged about the culture that perpetuates the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the plight of women in Malawi. The final product is an introduction to women¿s issues in the region, a primer for understanding HIV/AIDS in Malawi and a glimpse of the difficult work Peace Corps volunteers face every day. 50% of the proceeds from sale of the DVD will go directly back into development projects in Zolokere and the other 50% will help fund a feature documentary about the same community.
