Q:I would like some more info on your seat strut clamps and why I should use them?

A:Many Commercially built recumbents have retained that home built look as the industry out of necessity adopted non-traditional components. Various forms of hitch pins are one of these components. ( In the recumbent world they are affectionately called "grenade pins".) They are used with a series of holes in a pair of telescoping tubes to make the seat srtuts adjustable. Besides aesthetics, this system has a number of problems. The pins can be easily lost. They are noisy. If the alignment of the holes isn't perfect they can be difficult to insert and remove. They only provide the incremental adjustment of the predrilled holes. If you remove your seat by pulling the pins your favorite setting can be lost.

The design of our new seat strut clamp addresses all of these problems. It comes in 2 sizes and works with your exsisting seat struts. It is a well design precision component with an anodized finish that will look good on an expensive bike. It provides for precise adjustment. Hole alignment is no longer an issue. Noise is no longer an issue. They are more stable than pins.

The seat can be quickly removed. The clamp has 2 pinch bolts, one for the smaller diameter tube and another for the larger tube. With a 3mm Allen wrench, simply loosen the bolts for the larger diameter tubes and remove the seat. The clamps are left attached to the smaller tube saving your setting and preventing loss of the clamps.

The clamps are machined from 6061 aluminum and weigh only 16 grams each. Grenade pins weigh 6 grams each.
